Beaver comes up for air
Fireflies flicker in time to

Fresh dark pellets
moist like chocolate
hoof prints
still bent weeds
Dappled sunshine
wet ground cover
Soft pine needle carpet
Cone from last season
Old dead log feeding forest floor
Glorious field . . .

This afternoon I don my mud boots and a hoodie, making for the reservoir.
